American Bull Dogs -- Friends & Protectors
American Bull Dogs conjure up images of great power and dominance when their breed is mentioned. This extremely protective animal makes for not only a great friend, but also the perfect dog for protecting your home and family members. Among their great qualities, the bull dog is known for its ability to exhibit extreme aggressiveness when needed, while also being very trainable and receptive to training.
Some breeds of dog are so well trained and people-friendly, that they can become so domesticated they will welcome unwanted intruders into your home when you're not around: The American Bull Dog is a breed that in most cases understands that when their owner isn't around, they are to protect your property. This becomes a great asset when friends become ex-friends and you don't want them on your property (this only applies to their/your home, as they're friendly around strangers when not protecting their domain).
American Bull Dogs also make for excellent trackers and hunting companions. Their sense of smell and sight are amazing for tracking other animals and birds.
The American breed comes in two different varieties: The Johnson and Scott. Johnson's are taller and heavier, with a shorter muzzle. The Scott is a shorter animal, with a slightly longer muzzle. Both have the same protective qualities and are extremely protective of children or people who are weak.
While some larger breeds of canine are known for heart defects and having their brain outgrow their skull in later years: American Bull Dogs are virtually free from genetic defects and tend to live well beyond 10 years when they get regular exercise. This makes them a worthy long-time pet and if an owner considers breeding them: Purebred Bull Dog puppies will fetch a fair price, as the breed was nearly extinct after the second world war and numbers are considerably lower than other breeds.

Can I feed my dog this?
I'm making home-made dog food for my Toy American Eskimo/Pom (recipe was approved by my vet), and I want to make it a little more tasty for puppy. I Googled garlic for dogs, and it's still unclear as to whether or not I can add a bit of cooked, diced garlic cloves to my puppy's food ... some sites say a bit of cooked garlic is good for my dog, yet, others say garlic clove is toxic. I'm making a batch of puppy food right now, and the Vet's office isn't open at the moment. Any advice is appriciated ...
I make my own dog food too and I always add garlic puree. Dogs have very few taste buds compared to us so it isn't the taste that matters so much as the smell and my babies go wild for it 
They seem to thrive on it and even better it seems to discourage fleas and ticks - even though I walk them in rough terrain (they are Jack Russell Terriers) I have never had to treat them for fleas at all, they just don't get them!
Good for you for making your own dog food by the way!! If people only took the trouble to find out what rubbish is really in commercial dog foods (even the so called quality ones)then they would be horrified.

So I'v Been Going Through A Rough Year, But Since I'm Getting Settled In Again It's Almost Time To Add A New Dog Into My Life, So I'v Been Reading Up On Breeds & I Like Strong Willed Breeds, Always Have, But Yet Again My Mother Used To Breed Shar Pei So I'm Used To It. I'm One Who Normally Buys From Breeders, But Since I'v Been Going Through Hell The Last Year It Makes Me Want To Help Someone Out Who Also's Been Homeless.
Well They Say That The 4 Biggest Things That Keeps Dogs From Finding A New Home Is: Being Large, Being Black, Being Old & Being An American Pit Bull Terrier, So I'v Almost Made Up My Mind To Adopt A Dark Colored Senior (6 Year Old Or Older) Pit, But Here's The Questions I Have...

I commend you for wanting to adopt the least likely dog to be adopted. Your right about the last dogs to be adopted are big, black, old pits. Go to www.spbr.org and read about the founder of that pit bull group. He did exactly what you want to do. He went into a shelter and asked to adopt the dog least likely to be adopted. It wasn't black and old but it was a large pit bull. From that adoption his love for pits grew and he founded the rescue. That dogs name is Precious.
